2. Uso de may como auxiliar modal (may = Ø, poder, ser posible)

Expresa posibilidad, probabilidad, petición, permiso en sentido afirmativo. Imposibilidad, improbabilidad y prohibición en sentido negativo.

Las formas may / might denotan hipótesis y una mayor incertidumbre que can / could.

La forma de presente may se traduce por puede que, es posible que y el presente de poder.

 

they may be doctors, pueden ser / es posible que sean ser médicos

Cyril may not speak Russian, puede / es posible que Cyril no hable ruso

 

3. Uso de might como auxiliar modal (might = Ø, poder, ser posible)

might (pasado) indica una mayor improbabilidad, duda o amabilidad que may.

Se traduce por podía, podría, pudiera ser que, sería posible que, etc

 

they might have gone up, podrían haber subido

might you show us the way?, ¿podrías indicarnos el camino?

 

may / might sólo se utilizan en los tiempos presente, pasado y condicional simples Los demás tiempos pueden expresarse con: to be possible to (afirmativas) to be not possible to (negativas) to be impossible to (negativas)

 

It'll be possible to travel to moon, será posible viajar a la Luna

would it be possible to have a banana?, ¿serìa posible tomar un plátano?
